Happy Day Indeed (12 May 2014)
Restaurant Happy Day Polish & Bulgarian Restaurant
from: Richard
in: Restaurants
Happy Day is a Polish restaurant that delivers on its promise! The food is delicious and the service is very friendly, which, in my case at least, does mean a "happy day". Every time I visit Liverpool, I try to go by this small and cheerful Polish restaurant. Last time I had the Polish potato porridge and the home made meatballs, which are worth an arm and a leg. The one thing I would criticize is the bright yellow walls that can be annoying after a hard days work.... read more...

A lot of gluten free options (12 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Bistros / Caterings
I have a cousin that is gluten intolerant and was complaining about the lack of dietary options and how it gets old very fast. I took him and his wife out for lunch at Organic Deli Cafe and we all had gluten-free options. I had an organic porridge and a croque monseur and my cousin had the bap. The food was actually pretty good though my coffee, for some reason, was served almost cold; perhaps due to the large number of customers. I don't recommend that you go here around 2-3 pm since it can be ... read more...

Nice Turkish restaurant... (12 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Ethnic Restaurants
What is especially lovey about Sultan is that it has a nice blend between traditional Turkish elements and an overall modern design. I've been looking for a a nice Turkish restaurant that serves good Turkish dishes for some time now and I'm pretty satisfied with the quality offered at this trendy restaurant. The dolma and the falafel are great and you can get some pretty advantageous offers. Last time we visited, we had a group coupon for nine types of meze, which is always good! The environment... read more...

Surprise Kosher Meal (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Bars/Pubs
I went at this cafe with a student friend of mine...it was nicer than I expected. The cafe is quiet and the people are very nice. The food is simple and delicious and you will enjoy it, especially if you like kosher food. Keep in mind that you might have some problem getting in, since it is mainly a student oriented cafe... read more...

Reasonable fast food restaurant... (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Bars/Pubs
Well, Coast to Coast seems a decent fast food joint, despite being slightly overpriced. All in all, the food is nice and the service is great. It's a good place to go to have a good time and eat a decent meal.... read more...

More Thai (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Bars/Pubs / Delivery
I recently got into Thai food, so it seems that I often find myself in Thai restaurants. Chaophraya Thai is exquisite when it comes to the general ambiance (the word regal comes to mind), but the food tends to disappoint when compared to the surroundings. Don't get me wrong, I've had by far the best moo ping (pork skewers) and satay gai (chicken skewers with peanut sauce) here, but the luxurious decor made me expect something out of this world. The people serving me and the family were very ... read more...

Interesting Thai restaurant, especially for swan lovers! (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Ethnic Restaurants
First, I have to warn you about the golden half swan half human goddesses at the entrance of the restaurant. While the decor is highly unusual (I still don't know if I like it or not, it's hard to judge for some reason), what food I've tried was very nicely done. Definitely try the pad gaprao or the tom kha gai soup, especially if you like Thai cuisine.... read more...

Great Mexican food, good atmosphere! (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: RestaurantsRestaurants South American
If you like spicy Mexican food and you live in Birmingham, it's definitely worth going to Bodega Bar. The personnel is young and very nice and the food is delicious. Last time I tried some pollo con arroz, ceviche salad and to top it all off, some delicious churros. The chicken was nice and moist and the flavors really came together wonderfully. I personally don't like the decor of the place, but who really cares about that when there are new gastronomic frontiers to be conquered. The rest of ... read more...

Great Indian Food, not so Great service (09 May 2014)
from: Richard
in: Restaurants / Caterings
I had the opportunity to eat several times at Mughli and I was always pleased with the quality of the food. I recommend the chicken tikka masala and the saaq wala (roasted lamb with spinach, that my friends is something worth trying) especially, but most dishes are nicely prepared by what seems to be a very talented team of chefs. On the other hand, the service is usually pretty bad... I believe I never visited the restaurant without having to wait for the waiters for a ridiculous period of time... read more...
